Server Configuration :-
Most
of the features in Windows NT and Windows 2000 are
controlled by services, some of which operate under
different logon accounts. Stopping and starting services
remotely and changing service startup accounts and
passwords can become time consuming. Performing these
actions on a large set of computers can become a maintenance
nightmare.
MOHITRAJ can manage services on any number of computers
at the same time, plus perform service control and
startup changes in mass.
Fast viewing and sorting of all service properties on any computer .
-
Service control: start, stop, pause, continue, and restart .
- View service dependencies
- Service installation on multiple computers
- Service removal
- Modify service properties
- Control services on multiple computers at the same time
- Change service startup information, including password, on multiple computers
- Remote viewing of device drivers
- Full support for Windows 2000 service features, including Recovery options
Most of our features are built around server and
computer administration. With our multiple domain
management layout, and the capability to build custom
groups of objects such as servers and printers, we
can easily provide access to every aspect of server
administration.

Administration
MOHITRAJ can manage remote computer users on domains as well
as individual workstations. MOHITRAJ can also remotely change
the password for the same account on multiple computers,
or make group membership changes to multiple computers
at the same time.
Viewing
Computers
MOHITRAJ provides several different ways
to view computers, whether in domains, in workgroups,
or in user-defined groups. MOHITRAJ can also filter domain
lists by specific computer type (for example, Terminal
Servers only), and can distinguish between computers
that are online vs. added to the domain computer listing.
MOHITRAJ can also access computers directly by tcp/ip address
only, and can also provide access to a single computer's
functions, so that the entire list does not have to
be retrieved. MOHITRAJ provides full management of computer
objects, including creating, changing attributes,
and removing from the domain list.
MOHITRAJ's computer Properties function can display a wealth of information about a remote system including installed software applications, total memory, video and BIOS information, network cards, tcp/ip and DNS information, remote time, server roles (print server, SQL Server, etc.), installed hotfixes, environment variables, and more.

to shutdown and optionally reboot any computer or
server. Moreover, an administrator can perform a shutdown/reboot
on multiple computers at the same time. MOHITRAJ also supports
remote wakeup (WOL) for any number of computers.

Intranet ware server Configuration
If
you own multiple PCs, you have probably thought about
how great it would be if your computers could talk
to each other. With your computers connected, you
could:
- Share a single printer between
computers
- Share a single Internet
connection among all the computers in your home
- Access shared files such
as photographs, MP3s, spreadsheets and documents on
any computer in the house
- Naming the PC
Sharing files
- Sharing printers
- Security
- Sharing an Internet connection
Networking Basics: File Sharing
One of the most common activities on any computer
network is "file sharing." Windows makes sharing files
incredibly easy, and once you set it up, any computer
on the network can share files with any other.
A server that sits between a client application, such
as a Web browser, and a real server. It intercepts
all requests to the real server to see if it can fulfill
the requests itself. If not, it forwards the request
to the real server.
Proxy servers have two main purposes:
Improve Performance :
Proxy servers can dramatically improve performance
for groups of users. This is because it saves the
results of all requests for a certain amount of time.
Consider the case where both user X and user Y access
the World Wide Web through a proxy server. First user
X requests a certain Web page, which we'll call Page
1. Sometime later, user Y requests the same page.
Instead of forwarding the request to the Web server
where Page 1 resides, which can be a time-consuming
operation, the proxy server simply returns the Page
1 that it already fetched for user X. Since the proxy
server is often on the same network as the user, this
is a much faster operation. Real proxy servers support
hundreds or thousands of users. The major online services
such as Compuserve and America Online, for example,
employ an array of proxy servers.
Filter Requests
Proxy servers can also be used to filter requests.
For example, a company might use a proxy server to
prevent its employees from accessing a specific set
of Web sites.
Server Platforms
A term often used synonymously with operating system,
a platform is the underlying hardware or software
for a system and is thus the engine that drives the
server.
Application Servers
Sometimes referred to as a type of middleware, application
servers occupy a large chunk of computing territory
between database servers and the end user, and they
often connect the two.
Audio/Video Servers Audio/Video servers bring multimedia
capabilities to Web sites by enabling them to broadcast
streaming multimedia content.
Chat Server
Chat servers enable a large number of users to exchange
information in an environment similar to Internet
newsgroups that offer real-time discussion capabilities.
Fax Servers
A fax server is an ideal solution for organizations
looking to reduce incoming and outgoing telephone
resources but that need to fax actual documents.
FTP Servers
One of the oldest of the Internet services, File Transfer
Protocol makes it possible to move one or more files
securely between computers while providing file security
and organization as well as transfer control.
Groupware Servers
A groupware server is software designed to enable
users to collaborate, regardless of location, via
the Internet or a corporate intranet and to work together
in a virtual atmosphere.
IRC Servers
An option for those
seeking real-time discussion capabilities, Internet
Relay Chat consists of various separate networks (or
"nets") of servers that allow users to connect to
each other via an IRC network.
List Servers
List
servers offer a way to better manage mailing lists,
whether they be interactive discussions open to the
public or one-way lists that deliver announcements,
newsletters, or advertising.
Mail Servers
Almost as ubiquitous
and crucial as Web servers, mail servers move and
store mail over corporate networks (via LANs and WANs)
and across the Internet.
News Servers
News
servers act as a distribution and delivery source
for the thousands of public news groups currently
accessible over the USENET news network.
Proxy Servers Proxy servers sit between a client program (typically
a Web browser) and an external server (typically another
server on the Web) to filter requests, improve performance,
and share connections.
Telnet Servers A Telnet server enables users to log
on to a host computer and perform tasks as if they're
working on the remote computer itself.
Web Servers
At its core, a Web server serves static content to
a Web browser by loading a file from a disk and serving
it across the network to a user's Web browser. This
entire exchange is mediated by the browser and server
talking to each other using HTTP. Also read ServerWatch's
Web Server Basics article.
Security
The local area network is not accessable from the
global Internet, but your machine is visible to others
on the LAN. Please note that being on a network can
compromise your security. For example be careful that
you do not expose your disks publically to others.
The IP numbers 172.16.*.* are reserved for use by
networks that are not connected to the global Internet,
and in this way nobody from outside can get to the
LAN.
Also people on the local area network may listen on
the LAN to get privileged information from you, for
example passwords for your mail or other access information
like telnet logins. Solutions may be to use secure
transmission methods such as ssh and shttp for privileged
information.
Server requirements
The server may be running on a intel pentium box running
linux redhat 5.2 with some extra configuration. The
major technologies used are DHCP and IP masquerading
and IP forwarding for the network to run just over
one external telephone line. The telephone line may
be provided via a 28.800 bps modem, and this configuration
seems to provide adequate facilities for a LAN of
say 40 machines - doing external email and some document
retrieval and web browsing.
A description of the setup is available.
